Summer's Golden Flowers - ecoprint and plant dyed silk scarf
Imagine yourself embraced in the golden light of summer's flowers and the soft autumn warmth of cinnamon and nutmeg. This large botanically dyed silk scarf has a sweeping band of ecoprinted coreopsis and tickseed flowers in golds and rust oranges at each end, alongside the warm spice browns of cutch. The sweet impressions of tiny flower buds are made by a humble member of the coreopsis family known commonly as tickseed and coreopsis tinctoria, or dyer's coreopsis. The play of light on this silk brings a complexity to the prints and colours that catch your eye as you move.
When silk captures the colours of nature something magical happens.
This silk scarf has been hand dyed with cutch, and ecoprinted with botanicals from the Kootenays in BC where I live. The tickseed flowers are a beloved perennial in my garden, their tiny yellow flowers bloom happily all summer.
This is a large but very lightweight silk scarf with a soft drape. It can be worn looped, knotted, draped, hooded or as a light shawl. Wear this large sized scarf in a variety of ways - silk offers warmth in winter and coolness in the summer.
