Moon on water - indigo and rust silk scarf
Patterns and textures created by rust and indigo on this lightweight silk habotai scarf in vibrant cool blues and warm earth browns have been created with a clamped resist technique layered over rust prints. There is an elemental beauty in the layering of watery indigo blues and the luminous moons placed at each end of this indigo dyed scarf which highlight exquisite details of rust printed markings within their round windows. These circle shapes are made using clamped shapes to resist the dye, a technique called itajime, or clamped block resist - when the clamps are released after dyeing in the indigo vat beautiful shapes remain.
This is a large but lightweight silk scarf with a soft ethereal drape. It can be worn looped, knotted, draped, hooded or as a light shawl. Wear this large sized scarf in a variety of ways - silk offers warmth in winter and coolness in the summer.
